Did you know that Jacques Cousteau visited the Medes Islands in his marine research vessel Calypso back in 1955? Since that time over 1,345 different marine species have been recorded there and the Medes Islands ecosystem is deservedly classified as the best natural reserve in the western Mediterranean. All the underwater environments to be found in the Mediterranean Sea are represented in the seabed around the Medes Islands, making this little archipelago an area of exceptional ecological value. The Medes Islands have been protected for 25 years and now the area up the coast to L´Escala is also going to come under protective measures.

The diving from our center in L´Escala offers a range of different habitats from seagrass meadows to rocky walls and caves, from corals to wrecks. There are dive sites to suit all levels of diver and subjects to interest the most seasoned underwater photographers.
